Champ de pixels - Place des festivals - Quartier des spectacles de Montréal

Have you seen the Champ de pixels yet? Jean Beaudoin of Intégral and Érick Villeneuve of Novalux are the creators of this gigantic "Lite-Brite" on the Place des festivals, Montreal's new prime outdoor show venue in the summer by Rue Jeanne-Mance (Métro Place-des-Arts).

The quality of my pictures, taken before dusk on a cloudy day, isn't the greatest, but you can check those put up by the Quartier des spectacles people on their Flickr account. It's obviously best appreciated if you go on site at night.

Hurry up to see the Champ de pixels, as it'll close this Wednesday, January 6th, 2010!

Sorry, it just looks like a dreary military cemetery to me....

@Factotum: You're right about that!

I walked up Jeanne Mance a few days ago at dusk with a friend and was entranced. My friend thought it was tacky, but I loved it. People were darting in and about the lights, playing with them, lingering. The public space was being used and toyed with. It was a kind of tabula rasa - pointless and purposeful all at once. Where else in the city could you find that?

My friend couldn't care less. Super tacky, she said.

Isn`t that place near place des art Metro? Nice I will drop by see that looks nice in pictures. :)

I walked through last week. My friend and I were a little disappointed. They tend to look like small traffic cones, and while the music is nice, the interactiveness of the lights is sort of lame.

Oh, I get it. Champ de Popsicles

Looks nice, an aerial view of these at night all lit up at night would look magnificent. Thanks for sharing Cédric.

I always love night time views of any given portion of the country. This was fantastic!
