This was the Hôpital général de Montréal when the Grey Nuns took over from the Frères Charon in the mid-eighteenth century. Their first and only Mother House is the one on the corner of Guy and René-Lévesque. When the Grey Nuns returned to Old Montreal in 1980 this building was renamed Maison de Mère d’Youville.
