Question: How would a National Housing Strategy impact our cities?

Answer: Probably about as much as the strategy to achieve our Kyoto targets reduced our greenhouse gas emissions!

The issue of homelessness won't be solved until people realize that with a "home" comes conventional responsibilities, like paying the rent, social interaction, cleaning, cooking, groceries, bills, bills, bills. Indenturement.

Many homeless people are homeless NOT because there are no homes available to them but because they do not want to be a part of conventional society. Rounding "homeless" people up and forcing them to live a conventional lifestyle is oppressive.

The term "low cost housing" should be replaced with "lost cost caging".

I am convinced that the issue of homelessness will not be solved until the concept of land ownership has been redefined. Homelessness only occurs when an individual assumes control of a territory and then evicts humans from it. So long as land ownership exists so will homelessness. The issue, the root cause, isn't homelessness but ownership.

Bandaid solutions to systemic problems are not effective.
