The results are so close, we won't know for weeks the final outcome as most seats will go to automatic recount.

Émile, I for one love the style of your articles and hope you don't take any of the criticisms I've read in some of the comments to heart.

The pic of the voting office you used was where I went to vote, seems to have been a clean sweep for Project Montreal in the Plateau, but not too much impact in most other parts of town.

I'm surprised Tremblay remains, such a conservative result.

Does anyone know why there were so many spoiled votes? What could have gone wrong exactly? I'm sure some were spoiled on purpose out of protest but 14,021 (so far according to http://resultats.election-montreal.qc.ca/index.fr.html?dt=1257183649597)
that seems like a lot to me.

I like how Tremblay went from a guy who most people thought was doing an okay job, to full out, public opinion, he-doesn't-deserve-to-be-mayor-but-still-is, in three short months. Pretty mediocre election result, really! A lamer status quo. Nobody believes anything Tremblay says now. Not the best way to have a mayor. He'll have to dig deep to make this work. Maybe he'll do something interesting now.

You certainly have a colourful way of getting the vote out, Émile. I've really enjoyed your columns during the campaign and hopefully you'll keep an eye on City Hall once the election's over; public vigilance between elections is probably the best way to limit the hanky-panky that's been revealed on the front pages of late.
