What happened here? I don't remember this place being abandoned.

The chapel is closed since 1997 and the convent is empty, in decay and for sale since 2007.

If you can't trust the catholic church to preserve it's architectural heritage, then who can you trust?

I understand that the city can tell landlords to fix their building or the city will do it and send the bill... so maybe it's time for some city intervention at this location? Because the present situation (as shown in your photo) is a disgrace.
