Vers 1900-2008

La caserne d'incendie numéro 10 était autrefois située sur la rue Sainte-Catherine près de l'intersection de la rue Guy. Un immeuble à logements construit en 1935 occupe aujourd'hui les lieux.

The Mourelato's jingle is permanently imprinted in my brain. This is not a good thing.

Too bad the older building were not kept in shape or preserved. They got much more soul. Look at where dagwoods is, i mean the older architecture has much flair and radiates care in the city's image...

of course this is 2008 not 1908 but still i think much more can and should be done to preserve treasures

Well, the 1935 building is not terrible at all. And the other building to the right of it (with the balcony) is actually much more charming than in the 1900 pic.

I wonder if any of that wonderful architectural detail on the shop at left remains hidden under the drab Dagwood's exterior? I doubt, though the window appears to be in precisely the same spot.

One more thing: Mourelato’s was, of course, A&A Music. Anyone know what it was before that?

That part of downtown looks really sad ! It needs a big infusion of money from developers !
